The best cymbals money can buy? No. The best cymbals so little money can buy? Absolutely. Wuhan cymbals don’t presume to challenge the sound quality, variety, and reputation of the fine professional-level cymbals on today’s market. But when it comes to “affordable cymbals,” that’s something else again.
Generally, “affordable” cymbals are made of less-expensive “sheet” alloys, using short-cut manufacturing methods and finishing steps in order to keep the cost down. And with the resulting cymbals you pretty much get what you pay for.
Wuhan cymbals are made of high-quality cast B20 alloy. They’re handcrafted in China according to two-thousand-year-old traditional methods. They’re buffed to a brilliant finish, and stamped with an unobtrusive but attractive logo.
And their sound? We think they sound good enough to use on anybody’s gig—which you can’t say for many “affordable” cymbals. But you can be the judge. Just prepare to be surprised at how much you’ll hear—especially considering how little you’ll pay!
You’re not likely to find a “splashier” splash than a Wuhan, at any price. Thin, crisp, quick…they’re everything drummers look for in a splash cymbal. The 8" Wuhan splash is particularly delicate, high-pitched, and “hissy.”
The odd, almost-large size of the 11" Wuhan splash gives it a distinctive tonal character that sets it apart from other models.
The large size of the Wuhan 12" splash gives it penetrating power over that of smaller models.
The small size and medium weight of the Wuhan 14" and 16" crashes provide an excellent balance of quick, explosive response and rapid decay. This balance of characteristics makes them perfect for adding crisp accents to musical passages.
The 17" medium weight of this crash gives it power, clarity, and sustain. These characteristics provide it with the versatility to be the “big cymbal” in a small setup or the “small cymbal” among a group of larger, louder models.
The 19" crash medium weight of this crash gives it power, clarity, and sustain. Its size gives it the explosive punch needed to carry through mid- to high-volume situations. Meanwhile, its dark overtones allow it to serve as a jazz ride.
Medium Thin Crashes
The medium-thin weight of the Wuhan 16" crash provides an excellent balance between quick, explosive response and rapid decay. This balance of characteristics makes it the perfect all-purpose mid-size cymbal.
The medium-thin weight of the Wuhan 18" crash provides an excellent balance between quick, explosive response and
rapid decay. This balance of characteristics, along with the power that comes with its size, makes the 18" crash the perfect all-purpose large crash cymbal.
Wuhan 13” hi-hats feature a medium-thin top cymbal for quick, expressive stick response, paired with a medium bottom that provides definition and projection to the “chick” closed-cymbal sound. Slightly higher-pitched and faster than 14” models, it’s a great sonic combination.
Wuhan 14” hi-hats feature a medium-thin top cymbal for quick, expressive stick response, paired with a medium bottom that provides definition and projection to the “chick” closed-cymbal sound. The result is a great all-purpose hi-hat for any musical application.
The medium-weight Wuhan 18" crash ride does double duty. As a crash, it has the size and weight to speak out over loud music, with a bright, penetrating tone and full sustain. Meanwhile, its large ride-type bell gives it the clarity and articulation to serve well as a ride
Wuhan thin crashes are ultra-responsive, light, and airy. This makes them perfect for low-volume live situations as well as for recording. The 13" , 14" and 15" thin crashes makes it a great hybrid between a soft crash and a loud splash.
The 16" thin crash is a great model for any venue where melodic tone and volume control are equally desirable.
The 18" thin crash perfect for low-volume live situations as well as for recording, it still packs plenty of projection power when called for.
Drummers around the world consider a 20" medium ride to be the all-purpose size and weight. Besides its versatility, the Wuhan 20” ride adds a full-bodied musical character and a clean, clear stick response to the mix. It’s ready to lay down the rhythm in any musical application
The Wuhan 20" medium-heavy ride adds a full-bodied musical character and a clear bell sound to the mix. Slightly heavier than a medium ride, it boasts a more pronounced stick response.
The Wuhan 20" heavy ride adds a full-bodied musical character to the mix. Its heavy weight produces great stick definition with very few overtones. And its clear bell cuts through any musical style.
The Wuhan 21" medium-heavy ride boasts a bright tone, maximum stick definition with minimum build-up, and a very loud bell. This is the ride cymbal for high-powered situations.
